絵志野菊形皿 Y-568

力強い造形と、志野ならではの豊かな肌合いを併せ持つ、桃山時代の絵志野菊形皿です。
菊花を模したリズミカルな輪花縁と、ふっくらとした厚みのある造形。ぽってりと掛けられた長石釉は、しっとりと柔らかな雪肌を思わせ、無数に走る細やかな貫入、部分的に現れる柚子肌の釉調が古格ある佇まいを醸し出しています。貫入には長い年月を経て飴色の景色が現れ、静かな時代の深みを添えています。
見込みには草花を思わせる鉄絵が奔放な筆致でのびやかに描かれ、温かみを帯びた表情の長石釉の下からほんのりと浮かび上がっています。明瞭に描き切るのではなく、厚く掛かった釉の向こうから文様が浮かんでは消えるように見えるところも、古志野ならではの味わいでしょう。見込み中央には土味をそのまま見せる景色が残り、素朴で愛らしい表情をつくっています。
また、焼成時に生じた石ハゼや、釉抜けから覗く土味も、この皿ならではの大きな見所です。高台内にも、鮮やかな火色（緋色）がしっかりと現れており、手にした時の重厚感と掌に吸い付くような肌触りは格別です。
菊形に波打つ口縁と、見込みへと連なる花弁状の造形は、料理や菓子を盛った際に美しい陰影を生みます。
とりわけ魅力的なのは、その「肌」です。「志野の肌を愉しむ一枚」と言えるでしょう。
志野の肌の魅力を存分に堪能できる絵志野菊形皿です。

高台の矢印Aの部分に小さな繕いが、矢印Bの部分にニュウがあります。しかし、いずれも景色の中に馴染んでおり、本品の鑑賞を損なうものではありません。

E-Shino Chrysanthemum-Shaped Dish　Momoyama Period　Late 16th – early 17th century

A powerful and expressive E-Shino dish from the Momoyama period, featuring a rhythmic chrysanthemum-shaped rim and a generously formed body.
The thick feldspathic glaze has a soft, warm surface covered with fine crackles and areas of subtle yuzuhada texture. Freely brushed iron-painted floral motifs appear softly beneath the glaze, while exposed clay, ishihaze (stone bursts), and vivid reddish firing marks (hi-iro) add rich character and depth.
Above all, the beauty of this dish lies in its surface—the interplay of glaze, crackling, iron decoration, exposed clay, and natural kiln effects. It is truly a dish through which to savor the distinctive beauty of Shino ware.

There is a small restoration to the foot at the area indicated by arrow A and a hairline crack at arrow B. Both blend naturally into the character of the dish and do not significantly detract from its appearance.
